The American Society for Association Executives (ASAE) named the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) to its list of 100 Associations That Will Save the World. NWRA was recognized for its work to keep waste collection workers safe on the job. ASAE highlighted NWRA’s Slow Down to Get Around initiative and its work during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide important safety resources to its member companies to ensure employees remain safe.
“It’s an honor to be recognized alongside these organizations. NWRA is committed to workplace safety and wants every employee to come home safely at the end of his or her shift,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “Through our advocacy efforts at the state level, more than 30 governors have signed ‘Move Over’ laws to keep waste collection workers safe on the road. During the pandemic, our chapters and federal affairs team have worked tirelessly to ensure our member companies have the flexibility to operate safely.”
NWRA was recently recognized with ASAE’s 2020 “Power of A” Gold Award for its Hours-of-Service/Electronic Logging Device exemption. The association was recognized in 2019 with ASAE’s “Power of A” Silver Award for its Slow Down to Get Around initiative.
