The National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA) thanks President Trump and Members of Congress for reaching agreement to extend tax credits for the use of alternative fuels such as compressed natural gas (CNG), the creation of alternative fuel refueling infrastructure, and facilities producing energy from renewable resources through the end of 2020.
These tax breaks, along with others commonly termed “extenders,” expired at the end of 2017, but the deal struck by Congress in the early hours of this morning will make them retroactive to their expiration. Extenders will be added to must-pass appropriations legislation to fund the federal government for FY2020 that the House is expected to take up today.
“We are grateful that the President and Congress have come together to extend these tax credits that are so important to the waste and recycling industry,” stated NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “It is crucial that they not only made the tax breaks retroactive, but also extended them through the end of 2020 in order to ensure certainty for our members.”
NWRA has been lobbying for passage of tax extenders since prior to their expiration, both on its own and as part of broader business coalitions.
