Notably, in April 2024, the EPA designated PFOA and PFOS – two of the most prevalent PFAS chemicals – as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). This groundbreaking move marks the first time polluters are accountable for reporting and remediating PFAS contamination.
