With mandatory commercial recycling on the horizon along with a desire to enhance community waste reduction, recycling and composting programs, industry expert Alicia Archibald will join the city as the new community recycling coordinator on December 19. “Alicia brings a wealth of waste management & recycling experience that will significantly assist the city and elevate the community toward greener practices,” said Winnie DelliQuadri, Special Project/Intergovernmental Services Manager. “

The new position will help the city achieve waste reduction and recycling goals outlined in the Routt County Climate Action Plan. In particular, Archibald will be active in these key areas: implementing the commercial recycling ordinance, providing technical assistance to the community, developing city recycling sites, and supporting implementation of the Climate Action Plan. This position will work with haulers, partners and citizens across all waste reduction platforms as well as serve as the city representative for community committees. In addition, the role will audit programs as well as investigate compliance and enforcement actions.

Prior to taking on the new role with the city, Archibald served as a solid waste consultant for Kessler Consulting and A2 Solutions focusing on waste minimizations strategies for municipalities for four years. She held various sustainability related positions with Bestway Disposal/Recycling/Transfer, a privately owned waste and recycling hauling and processing company. She was an executive director for the Clean Air Campaign of the Pikes Peak Region as well as president of BETTR Recycling, her own consulting firm for businesses, governments, and communities.

Archibald currently serves on the Board of Directors for Recycle Colorado. She has additional training in OSHA general industry outreach from 360training.com and internal auditor knowledge from SAI Global. The community recycling coordinator is a two-year contracted position within the Deputy City Manager. The position reports to the Special Project/Intergovernmental Manager.
