The Florida Recycling Partnership will host a Recycling Workshop for Retailers at Bealls Corporate Headquarters on Friday, August 24 in Bradenton, FL. This one-day workshop will feature speakers from top Florida businesses sharing how recycling works for their company and why it is important to them and their customers.

A panel consisting of representatives from Publix Super Markets, Inc., Bealls and Rooms-To-Go will talk about how they started their recycling programs and some of the challenges they face.  Steve Lezman, PepsiCo Sr. Director Government Affairs will serve as moderator.

After a networking lunch, there will be a discussion on state preemptions and how they affect the retail industry featuring panelists from the Florida Retail Federation and retailers.

Shari Jackson from the American Chemistry Council (ACC) will talk about the new Wrap Recycling Action Program (WRAP) that will be debuting in Florida later this year.  The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the ACC have formed a public-private partnership designed to increase opportunities for recycling plastic wrap, bags and film.  The new WRAP partnership also includes Publix Super Markets, additional retailers, municipalities, Waste Management, Inc. of Florida and the Florida Recycling Partnership.

Later in the afternoon, attendees will learn how old fixtures, furniture and equipment can have a new life thanks to Goodwill Industries. Additional speakers will be announced soon.
