The 2017 Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) Fall Classic & Networking Event – to be held Thursday, September 28, at the Pinehurst Resort  in Pinehurst, NC – will be sponsored by Waste Industries. All proceeds from the tournaments will support EREF’s mission to fund and direct scientific research and educational initiatives to establish sustainable waste management practices. 

The event tees off with a putting contest and networking reception featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres on Wednesday, September 27, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. To increase networking opportunities and accommodate more participants, the golf tournament will be held on two courses with play beginning on Thursday, September 28, following a breakfast buffet at 6:30 am. Start times are 8:30 am on Course 1, and 8:45 am on Course 5. The tournament will conclude with an Awards Luncheon at 2:00 pm.
 The format for the Golf Tournament will be Four-Person Scramble with a Shotgun Start. Players on the first and second place teams will receive trophies and a framed team photo. Hole-in-one prizes will be given at all par 3s, including the chance to win $50,000 cash. There will also be other prize winning opportunities, including the chance to win a $10,000 putting contest.  

Golf the renowned Pinehurst No. 2 at 10% off! Event participants are invited to play the Pinehurst No. 2 at a special discounted rate.  Since the tournament’s inception in 1994, the EREF Fall Classic has raised more than $3 million. Held in conjunction with the EREF Fall Classic Golf Tournament, the 3rd Annual Fall Classic Poker Tournament will take place from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm on Thursday, September 28th at The Fair Barn in Pinehurst, NC, located just 1 mile from the Pinehurst Resort.  Tournament format is Texas Hold ‘Em and poker registration includes food, drinks and a player’s seat with chips. Poker chips have no cash value. A $500 donation is encouraged. Poker spectators are welcome, but EREF requests that they register free of charge. Participation in the EREF Fall Classic Golf Tournament is not required to participate in the Poker Tournament.
