Waste Management has finalized its purchase of Sustainable Waste Solutions (SWS), a Montgomery County-based company that serves commercial businesses in the Lehigh Valley, eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. SWS’s 26 roll-off, rear-load, front-load and tractor-trailer trucks will now be controlled by Waste Management.

Waste Management Communications Manager John Hambrose said SWS’s customer should not expect to see any changes or interruptions in service. Customers will be alerted of any potential changes in the future, Hambrose said.

SWS touts itself as a “landfill-free” waste hauler and “provider of environmentally-friendly commercial and industrial waste handling solutions.” Waste that SWS picks up is either reused, recycled or burned and converted to energy at one of its facilities. “They work with customers to reduce the amount of waste and maximize recycling,” Hambrose said. “Very often companies want to reduce their carbon footprint and have greener aspirations.”

SWS had 29 employees at the time of the acquisition and all were offered positions with Waste Management, according to Hambrose.
