Wastequip, the leading North American manufacturer of waste handling equipment, has hired supply chain expert Mark Strutz as its new vice president of supply chain.  Reporting directly to Wastequip’s President of Operations, Henry Retamal, Strutz will be responsible for leading logistics, warehousing and purchasing across the company and its related brands, which include Toter, Galbreath, Mountain Tarp, Go To Parts, Cusco and Pioneer.

This is a newly created position for Wastequip, which has recently consolidated functions across brand lines to achieve greater economies of scale.  Through Strutz’s hire, Wastequip seeks to help standardize processes and create centralized freight and purchasing functions to improve efficiencies and drive cost savings throughout the organization.

A results-driven, hands-on leader with a unique mix of engineering, operations and supply chain executive leadership experience and a strong track record of unlocking shareholder value, Strutz comes to Wastequip with more than 30 years of proven success in spearheading change efforts to improve profits and enhance competitiveness.  Strutz has developed his skills in supply chain redesign, strategic sourcing, merger integration and outsourcing through tenures at leading energy companies, such as Trigen Energy, Unicom Thermal Technologies, Exelon Corporation and Sunoco Corporation.  Most recently, he served as the vice president and chief supply management officer  for The Babcock and Wilcox Company in Charlotte, NC, where he designed and implemented the company’s first integrated global supply chain organizational structure, including new global supply chain departments for strategic category management, global logistics, indirect spend management and supply chain systems and compliance.

“Adding this new position designed to consolidate the key business functions of purchasing, freight and logistics is an important step in Wastequip’s efforts toward continuous improvement and streamlining operations,” said Henry Retamal, Wastequip president of operations. “We are confident that Mark’s supply chain expertise coupled with his engaging leadership style will be a tremendous benefit to our team as we continue on our current strong growth trajectory.”
