Since joining Waste Pro in 2018, Tracy Clairett has built a reputation as a dependable, driven, and highly versatile professional. Her diverse career background inspires admiration and respect, showing her dedication to growth and service.
Before entering the solid waste industry, Tracy spent 18 years caring for others as a nurse. After experiencing the emotional toll of losing a 99-year-old patient, she made a bold decision, earned her CDL, and started a new chapter.
Her driving career began with Greyhound, spending over two years on the road before transitioning to FedEx Ground in Mississippi. Still searching for the right fit, she applied to Waste Pro and immediately recognized the opportunity before her. Even when others weren’t sure of her choice, Tracy remained confident in her decision and knew Waste Pro was where she wanted to be.
Tracy kicked off training in Atlanta with the intention and determination to learn how to operate every piece of equipment available while training in Atlanta. She began with an Automatic Side Loader Residential Collection truck, preferring to work independently. However, with guidance from mentors and a strong sense of curiosity, she steadily expanded her skillset, proving that determination and consistency can open doors to growth.
Tracy was inspired early on by the company’s emphasis on safety—particularly the recognition of top performers. Earning a safety award became a personal goal, one she continues to pursue with focus and pride. “That’s the carrot out in front of me,” she says. “Something I’m always striving for.”
Her career with Waste Pro checks so many boxes for her, including stability and a better daily routine. But what she found was much more. Over the years, Tracy has developed a deep appreciation for the skill, technique, and independence the job requires. “When I first started, I watched and learned,” she explains. “I paid attention to how experienced drivers worked, how they stayed efficient and safe. There’s a right way to do this job, and once you learn it, you take pride in it.”
In a largely male-dominated industry, Tracy has embraced the challenge with confidence and professionalism. Her story demonstrates that women can succeed here, inspiring others to pursue careers in this field. She encourages women to carry themselves with confidence and know what they’re doing, showing that success is achievable regardless of industry norms.
A typical day for Tracy starts early, arriving between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m., and wraps up by early afternoon. Her role involves delivering containers and dumpsters to commercial customers, ensuring each job is completed efficiently and safely. She’s also known for stepping in wherever needed, helping organize the yard, and making sure everything is in its proper place so her team can operate smoothly.
Outside of work, Tracy’s life is centered on family. Following a traumatic accident involving her daughter, her responsibilities grew significantly. Now, she not only cares for her daughter but has also taken on the role of raising her grandson. For the past nine years, she has balanced these responsibilities while maintaining her career, an achievement she considers one of her greatest sources of pride.
Despite the challenges she has faced, Tracy has never lost her drive. In fact, those experiences have fueled her determination to succeed. “A lot of people doubted me,” she reflects. “But I didn’t need to prove anything to them, I just needed to prove it to myself.” Today, Tracy takes immense pride in the career she has built at Waste Pro. She values the independence of working in the field, the relationships she’s developed with customers and coworkers, and the sense of purpose she feels every day. Looking ahead, she aims to continue growing professionally, serve her community, and achieve her goal of earning a safety award, inspiring others to pursue lifelong development.
For Tracy, success isn’t just about longevity; it’s about perseverance, growth, and making a meaningful impact. Her story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to start over, redefine your path, and thrive. Driven by resilience, guided by compassion, and grounded in purpose, Tracy Clairett truly represents the spirit of Waste Pro and what it means to make a distinguishable difference.
