In partnership, the Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA), and the Washington Organic Recycling Council (WORC), two nonprofit organizations representing the state’s diverse recycling and organic recycling industries, present a joint Washington Recycles Every Day (WRED) event of 2017, “The Composting Cycle – From Food to Farm and Back Again.” This educational workshop will take place on Thursday, September 28 from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Pilchuck Event Center in Marysville, with coffee and networking starting at 8:30 AM.

Join WSRA and WORC for a one of a kind WRED event focusing on composting, at every part of the journey. Attendees will hear from a range of speakers, including those who grow food, consume food, compost food, and use compost. This event will allow attendees to see and hear about the composting cycle, and their role in it!

Hot topics like contamination and the effects of packaging and bags will be covered by expert speakers, and attendees will be given a detailed up close and personal tour of Lenz Enterprises’ composting facility in Stanwood, WA.

This event is open to the public and includes lunch, topic discussions and networking opportunities with leaders in Washington’s recycling industry. Young environmental professionals are highly encouraged to attend. Registration costs are as follows: WSRA and WORC members $75, Non-members $95, Students with a valid student ID $35.
