The circumstances amid the COVID-19 crisis have spawned creative and heartwarming efforts to show support and still make those memories special. Last weekend, one such effort was made with the help of a mother’s friend and Republic Services, the company that handles waste management in Southern Nevada. Three-year-old Lena, whose mother Leslie says is obsessed with the company’s blue garbage trucks, was treated to her very own birthday parade on April 18.

Seven garbage trucks decked out with decorations and a “Happy Birthday Lena” sign swung by her home to help celebrate. “There are not enough words to thank my magic making friend, Nicole Langson Terry, for organizing this special moment,” Lena’s mother wrote on Facebook. “Times are hard right now, but the world is good and people are kind.”
