6The holiday season focuses on giving and buying gifts to your friends and loved ones but what happens to all the stuff once that season is over? While most people are winding down after their holiday celebrations, the week after Christmas marks one of the busiest times for waste management workers. Many people find themselves struggling with the correct disposal of holiday items.

Michael Bellvia, President of Pro Disposal Inc, which is a locally operated garbage collection and waste management company talks about which holiday items can and cannot be recycled. “What can be recycled out of the holiday trash or recyclables is basically cardboard boxes, plain paper, shopping gift bags,” said Bellvia. “Also anything aluminum, aluminum foil, aluminum trays, beverage cans from the holiday, auminum beverage cans, plastic beverage cans, plastic beverage bottles that all can be recycled as it normally is. Empty cookies and popcorn cans, magazines, and catalogues, wrapping paper tubes and aluminum plates can be recycled as well. Things like Christmas lights and some other decorations, they can’t be recycled and should just be thrown into the regular trash.”
