The National Waste & Recycling Association joined the National Association of Manufacturers and numerous other trade associations and businesses representing the manufacturing sector on a letter to Congress urging passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) as soon as possible.
North America is the most significant market for the United States globally, with Canada and Mexico purchasing one-fifth of the total value of U.S. manufacturing output. Our two neighbors, despite representing less than 4 percent of the global economy, buy more U.S.-manufactured goods than America’s next 11 trading partners combined.
“NWRA supports passage of USMCA to promote certainty and growth for American businesses,” NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith stated. “This new trade agreement will expand domestic manufacturing and increase access to the Canadian and Mexican markets. This not only benefits NWRA’s supplier members, but can also help alleviate the recycling market issues facing our services members through increased demand for manufacturing feedstock.”
