The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) released its 2022 first quarter LD-2 lobbying disclosure report in accordance with the organization’s transparency initiative. “It’s through our lobbying that we can be an effective advocate for the waste and recycling industry,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “It is important to us that we are transparent about our federal advocacy efforts. While we file our lobbying reports with the clerk of the House of Representatives and these are publicly available, NWRA goes a step further by posting these reports to our website.”

NWRA continues to engage Congress on issues important to the industry. This quarter, these items include:

  • Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act of 2022 (S. 3742) to improve domestic recycling collection in underserved and rural areas
  • Recycling and Composting Accountability Act (S. 3743) to improve recycling and composting data collection
  • Modern, Clean, and Safe Trucks Act of 2021 (S. 2435) to repeal the federal excise tax on heavy trucks
  • Trucking Action Plan (Biden Administration) to support new registered apprenticeship program to increase the supply of truck drivers by creating new pathways into the profession
  • Support FMCSA pilot program to enable 18-20 year old drivers with a CDL to drive interstate
  • Support the regulation of mobile phones as inherently addictive devices resulting in distractions causing injuries / deaths from their use

NWRA files quarterly LD-2 lobbying reports with the clerk of the House in accordance with federal law detailing what issues the Association is lobbying on and who is lobbying on its behalf.
