The Product Stewardship Society announces two well-known pioneers who are headlining PSX 2021: Dr. Michal Freedhoff and Dr. Lauren Zeise. PSX 2021 will be held in-person in Anaheim, California, from September 28 through 30, 2021, with a workshop offered on September 27. Opening keynote speaker Michal Ilana Freedhoff, Ph.D., is the Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, effective January 2021. She has over twenty years of government experience, beginning in 1996 in then-Congressman Ed Markey’s office as a Congressional Science and Engineering fellow after receiving a Ph.D. in physical chemistry at the University of Rochester. Her legislative work includes the fuel economy provisions in the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act, a law requiring the creation of an online database of dangerous consumer product safety defects, the 2016 re-authorization of the Toxic Substances Control Act, and 2019 legislation to address PFAS contamination.

Lauren Zeise, Ph.D., is the keynote speaker for the Closing Session. Dr. Zeise has been Director of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) since December 2016 and has been with OEHHA since its inception in 1991. She has held various leadership positions at OEHHA, including managing the Proposition 65 program, co-leading the team that developed the hazard trait regulation for California’s Safer Consumer Products program, and has conducted hundreds of health risk assessments. Dr. Zeise was the 2008 recipient of the Outstanding Risk Practitioner Award from the Society for Risk Analysis and is also an honorary lifetime National Academies of Sciences (NAS) National Associate.

“PSX is always a great source of inspiration,” says Adam Seery, CAE, Director of the Product Stewardship Society.  “We’re looking forward to hearing these industry leaders’ unique perspectives on topics that are top of mind to product stewards.” PSX 2021 brings together professionals to share expertise, best practices, challenges, and developments in product stewardship. Building on its previous successes, PSX 2021 looks to deliver more training and hands-on experiences.
