SWANA is pleased to announce that the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department (ACC) in Georgia will be the subject of a segment on Good Morning America (GMA) on Monday, November 2 between 7:00-9:00 a.m. The focus of the segment will interview several of ACC’s female drivers.

ACC contacted SWANA in connection with the GMA segment, which provided an opportunity for SWANA staff to send GMA information about the recent Applied Research Foundation (ARF) report on female drivers in the solid waste industry, and to be interviewed concerning broader industry safety issues.

It is rare for local governmental solid waste departments to receive this type of positive media attention from a prominent national media outlet. SWANA invites you to watch GMA on Monday (or set your DVR) and support ACC. If we receive more precise information about the timing of the segment, we will post it on SWANA’s Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn social media pages.
