Industrial shredding specialist UNTHA America, based in Hampton, New Hampshire, has appointed a new Director of Global Business Development as the company seeks to grow five-fold over the next three years. Gary Moore has almost three decades of industry experience and has helped bring more than 300 shredding projects to life worldwide – including over 50 in the pioneering Waste to Energy sector.  Before joining UNTHA’s European team in 2015 – where he has contributed to planned strategic company growth over the past three years – he spent 16 years working alongside another large shredding equipment manufacturer headquartered in the USA.

No stranger to the US market, Gary will be at the Waste Expo in Nevada from 6-9 May, when his new role really begins. “I’m excited to meet with both new and old faces at the Las Vegas Convention Centre,” he said. “As a brand, UNTHA has had a presence in the US for the last nine years, but we know there is so much more of the market to explore. I’m therefore looking forward to rolling out a cross-country sales and marketing plan, and securing distribution partnerships with like-minded waste technology brands and plant builders, striving for best practice and growth.

“My philosophy in Europe has been to help our customers turn today’s waste into tomorrow’s profits,” Gary added. “The beauty of our technology though, is that we’re also boosting customers’ environmental credentials, and increasing the resource security of their businesses in the process.”

When asked specifically about the ongoing evolution of the Waste to Energy market in the US, Gary said: “Sometimes organizations don’t even know they have the ability to manufacture alternate fuels that could generate a significant revenue stream for them. Or they don’t know how to build relationships with off-takers such as Cemex. So, we’re not just selling shredders – we’re devising resource solutions that will transform the focus of their business.”

Commenting on the global market, UNTHA America’s president Bernhard Martinz concluded: “From e-scrap to municipal trash, the resource sector poses a number of challenges for operators. However, R&D is evolving quickly which constantly presents new opportunities to make money from ‘waste’ and do what’s right for the environment at the same time. “UNTHA has sold more than 9,000 shredders globally, so as a team we are increasingly collaborating to not only bring the most cutting edge opportunities – but local support – to the US market.”
