Wastequip® announces that Steve Klueg has been awarded the 2018 CFO of the Year in the mid-sized private company category by the Charlotte Business Journal (CBJ). The award highlights Klueg’s key role in significantly improving the company’s financial position, culminating in its recent successful acquisition by H.I.G. Capital.

CBJ’s CFO of the Year Awards program, now in its 10th year, recognizes the role and contributions made by financial executives at their respective organizations in Charlotte. Nominations were evaluated by an independent panel of judges, facilitated by researchers from Wake Forest University (WFU), who selected the finalists and winners of each category based on a variety of factors, including accomplishments, civic involvement, leadership, and contributions to corporate success.

“This award demonstrates the powerful contribution strong financial management can make to a company’s position, valuation and bottom line,” said Klueg. “I am honored and humbled to be singled out among such a distinguished group of leaders.”

Klueg joined Wastequip as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2016, bringing more than 25 years of financial leadership expertise, with an emphasis on manufacturing organizations. Over his tenure, Klueg has improved the overall productivity of several of the company’s divisions, increased profitability and financial visibility, established KPI’s to drive results and led the company through a successful exit process to the company’s acquisition by H.I.G. Capital in early 2018. As a result of his efforts, Wastequip is well-positioned to execute on its aggressive growth plans, both organically and through future complementary acquisitions.

“Steve is not only a consummate professional, but a major driver of our success over the past several years,” said Wastequip Chief Executive Officer, Marty Bryant. “This award not only honors his outstanding personal accomplishments but serves as further proof of Wastequip’s remarkable turnaround, as well as our status as a strong, thriving and market-leading organization.”
