Easterseals Rehabilitation Center, 1305 National Road, is the newest drop-off location for the Ohio County Virtual Lions Club’s plastic bag recycling campaign. Nate Miller, Easterseals operations manager, said Easterseals is proud to partner with the Lions Club on its environmentally responsible mission. He invites the public to deposit plastic bags, mailers, packing materials, plastic wrap and other plastic films in the receptacle located inside the main entrance door.

In exchange for 500 pounds of plastic, Easterseals will receive a Trex bench to place outside its clinic for clients and their parents or caregivers to use while waiting for their appointments. “I already had a stash of plastic at home to kick off our collection. It’s a great way to be a good steward of our environment and also to ultimately serve our clients,” Miller said.

“I’m just so pleased that these things are popping up everywhere and we’re keeping it all out of our landfills,” said Mike Rafa, a retired science teacher and the Ohio County Virtual Lions Club environmental committee chairperson. He picks up plastic collected throughout the county, takes it to a storage area in Warwood where he weighs it, and then he ships it to Trex.
