A new recycling facility, which is owned by Larimer County and opened and operated by Waste Management, is located at 640 Elm Road. There is now a safe and secure area on-site designated specifically for recycling. When you pull up to the entrance gate, the attendant will direct you where to go. “We are working to make this recycling center a shining example of how zero contamination is possible and have Estes Park recycling efforts become a leading example for other community recycling programs,” said Todd Noe, district manager for Waste Management of Colorado. “The people making the effort to collect their recyclable and come to the center to deposit them are clearly committed to environmental sustainability. We applaud their efforts and encourage others to follow suit.”

Materials deposited at the Estes Park Residential Recycling Center will be taken to a WM materials recovery facility (MRF) in Denver where they will be sorted. However, it remains important to only put clean and accepted materials into the recycle bins. Each of the large, metal community recycling bins at the center has an opening for people to easily deposit items directly into. Since recyclables should never be bagged up, many people find it easiest to bring open bags or containers filled with loose recyclable and dump the materials directly into the opening of the large recycling bins. To save time, WM reminds people to break cardboard boxes flat and cut them down to a size that will fit through bins’ 20-inch opening.
