Get ready to tee off and go all in! The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) Fall Classic & Networking Event and Poker Tournament will be held Thursday, November 17 at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center in The Woodlands, Texas.
The EREF Fall Classic & Networking Event began in 1994 and has helped raise more than $3 million for the foundation. Proceeds from both the Fall Classic and the Poker Tournament help support EREF’s mission to fund industry research and education.
“Finding sustainable waste management practices is a key concern and Waste Connections is proud to support EREF’s mission to further research in this area,” says Jim Little, Waste Connections Senior Vice President of Engineering and Disposal and EREF Board member.
Event Highlights
With the growing success of the Fall Classic, EREF is also adding a second course to allow for more participants in the golf tournament. The Fall Classic, co-sponsored by Waste Connections and Waste Management, will be held at The Golf Trail of The Woodlands on the Oaks and Panther Trails courses.
This year’s events will begin on Wednesday, November 16 with the Welcome Reception, followed by Breakfast and a shotgun start the next morning. Both the Fall Classic and the Poker Tournament offer the chance to meet and network with more than 100 of the waste industry’s top executives under the same roof.
Players at this year’s tournament won’t have to worry about anything but their backswing because EREF has covered all the bunkers that may get in their way of having a great time.
Attendees can expect to begin their day with a goody bag filled to the brim with exciting merchandise from event sponsors, then grab a bloody mary and cigar to help get the event into full swing. Throughout the day, beverage carts will be roaming around both courses for players to stock up on snacks and more drinks while keeping their focus and concentration on making that hole-in-one. Following the tournament is an Awards Luncheon where winners of the golf tournament will be announced.
A Unique Opportunity
Golf registration is available for single players or foursomes and includes admission to the Welcome Reception, Breakfast and the Awards Luncheon. Separate registrations are available for those who do not wish to play in the tournament but want to take advantage of the event’s networking opportunities.
Last year, EREF introduced the new Fall Classic Poker Tournament, which was a huge hit with attendees. This year, poker registration includes food, drinks and a player’s seat with chips. Format is Texas Hold ‘Em. Poker chips have no cash value. A $500 donation is encouraged. Spectators are welcome but EREF does request that you register (free of charge). You do not need to participate in the EREF Fall Classic in order to participate in the Poker Tournament. Registration can be found at www.erefdn.org.
