The 2017 ISWA World Congress and WASTECON® Call for Speakers will open in November – December 2016. Please take this time to begin preparing your proposals for this historic event.  For the first time in nearly two decades, the ISWA World Congress will be hosted by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.  SWANA will co-locate its annual conference, WASTECON®, with the ISWA World Congress.  This will give you an even greater opportunity for exposure of your projects and expertise.

The 2017 ISWA World Congress and WASTECON® will share the theme, “No Time to Waste!”  This theme illustrates the urgency with which the waste and resource management sector must respond to the global and local issues it is facing every day.  ISWA’s President, Antonis Mavropoulos, stated in a recent blog post that we are facing a “global health emergency.”

SWANA is joining forces with ISWA to help take on some of the world’s most urgent waste management issues and will work with members, experts and world leaders to provide a platform to discuss and learn about issues and the disruptions that are affecting the advancement of resource management. Priority will be given to speaker proposals in the following categories:

  • Climate Change
  • Energy Recovery
  • Circular Economy
  • Smart Technologies
  • Closing Dumpsites
  • Resource Management
  • Waste Diversion

Additional topics will be accepted and considered.

The program committee will consider additional proposals that are unique and can showcase interesting projects, technologies and policies for effective waste management throughout the world.

Online submissions will begin in November.
